The Measurement and Reporting Task Team (MRTT) of the Multistate Working Group (MSWG) has chosen the following "charge" or mission statement to define the scope of our work:

1) Survey the available and most practical environmental performance reporting and measurement tools.
2) Develop a resource list of the best known methods (including how to find the resources).
3) Develop a Guide for use of these resources, based on our review of their value and performance, and relevance to particular user populations.

We have also agreed the following list of three deliverables:

1. A syllabus or listing of the environmental performance measurement and reporting tools which we will be reviewing and evaluating.
2. A Guide (our core tool), which helps organizations to use the extant tools, helps them tailor their measurement and reporting initiatives to their particular organization, and which (to a limited extent) helps them distinguish the tools from each other.
3. A "map" or other narrative-form document which explains the relationship between the work of the MRTT and the PPEMS Task Team.

As from now, we propose to deliver a draft set of our documents to MSWG during the Autumn meetings in Nebraska, take broad input from the entire MSWG thereafter, and to finalize our work products by the time of the Spring 2003 Meetings. The links on these pages are being provided to support the work of the Task Team. Please direct all suggestions and correspondence to NDEMS@unc.edu
